Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 18, 2026

Welcome to parasocial.website ("the Platform," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Overview

parasocial.website is a membership platform that connects content creators ("Creators") with their audience ("Followers"). Creators publish content, offer paid membership tiers, and interact with Followers through posts, comments, polls, and direct messaging. Followers can follow Creators for free or subscribe to paid tiers for access to exclusive content and features.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Platform. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13. We do not perform age verification on Followers or Creators. If we learn that a user is under 13, we will terminate their account.

3. Accounts

3.1 Registration

To use the Platform you must register with a valid email address and password. Creator accounts require an invitation from a Platform administrator. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

3.2 Email Verification

Upon registration a verification email is sent to the address you provided. Certain features — including commenting on posts and sending direct messages — require a verified email address.

3.3 Account Types

  • Follower: Can follow Creators, subscribe to paid tiers, comment on posts, vote in polls, like posts, and send direct messages (where permitted by the Creator).
  • Creator: Can publish content (blog posts, photos, links, media, polls), create membership tiers, receive payments via Stripe Connect, manage subscribers, and moderate their community.

4. Content

4.1 User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of the content you post on the Platform. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Platform.

4.2 Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited:

  • Adult or pornographic content of any kind — including but not limited to nudity, sexually explicit material, or content intended to be sexually arousing.
  • Content that is illegal under applicable law, including content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity.
  • Content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrighted material used without authorization.
  • Content that constitutes harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or age.
  • Spam, scams, phishing, malware, or other deceptive or malicious content.
  • Content that violates the privacy of others, including sharing personal information without consent (doxxing).
  • Content depicting or promoting violence, self-harm, or animal cruelty.

4.3 Content Moderation

Creators may moderate comments on their own posts, including deleting comments. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without notice.

5. Memberships and Payments

5.1 Paid Subscriptions

Followers may subscribe to Creator-defined membership tiers at monthly prices set by the Creator (up to a maximum of $500 USD per month). All financial transactions on the Platform — including subscription billing, payment processing, and creator payouts — are handled by Stripe. We do not directly store your payment card details; these are handled entirely by Stripe.

5.2 Billing and Renewals

Subscriptions are billed monthly and automatically renew. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method on file.

5.3 Cancellation

You may cancel a subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the paid tier's content until the end of your current billing period. After the billing period ends, your access will be downgraded and no further charges will be made.

5.4 Tier Changes

You may upgrade to a higher tier at any time. Upgrades are prorated by Stripe for the remainder of the current billing period. Tier prices are fixed at the time of creation and cannot be changed by the Creator after the fact.

5.5 Tier Deletion

If a Creator deletes a membership tier, all active subscriptions to that tier will be canceled immediately via Stripe and you will not be charged again. You will be notified by both in-app notification and email.

5.6 Platform Fees

We charge Creators a platform fee on each subscription payment. This fee is a percentage of the subscription amount and is set by the Platform. The fee is deducted automatically by Stripe before funds are transferred to the Creator's connected Stripe account.

5.7 Refunds

We do not offer refunds for subscription payments already processed. If a tier is deleted by a Creator, the cancellation takes effect going forward — prior payments are not refunded. For billing disputes, contact support@parasocial.website.

6. Creator Obligations

  • Creators must complete Stripe Connect onboarding in order to receive payments.
  • Creators must not publish adult, pornographic, or sexually explicit content.
  • Creators are responsible for setting appropriate membership tier pricing and delivering on stated perks.
  • Creators who offer tiers that include physical goods (shipping tiers) are solely responsible for fulfilling and shipping those goods to subscribers.
  • Creators must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including tax obligations on income received through the Platform.

7. Direct Messaging

Creators may enable or restrict direct messaging. Messaging access may be configured as: available to all followers, available only to paid subscribers on eligible tiers, or disabled entirely. Messages are stored on the Platform and are visible to both participants. You must not use messaging for harassment, spam, or any prohibited content.

8. Shipping Addresses

If you subscribe to a membership tier that includes physical goods, you may be asked to provide a shipping address. By providing your shipping address, you consent to us sharing that address with the Creator for the sole purpose of fulfilling and shipping physical goods to you.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

9.1 Bans

Creators may ban individual Followers from their community. A ban prevents the Follower from commenting on the Creator's posts and from sending the Creator direct messages. Creators may also unban previously banned Followers.

9.2 Platform Enforcement

We reserve the right to, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:

  • Remove or restrict any content that violates these Terms.
  • Temporarily or permanently ban any user from the Platform for abusive, harassing, or illegal behavior.
  • Restrict a user's ability to create posts, send messages, or comment.
  • Terminate any account that violates these Terms or applicable law.

10. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, code, logos, and branding, is the property of parasocial.website. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Platform without our written consent.

11. Third-Party Services

The Platform uses third-party service providers to operate, including for payment processing, image hosting, email delivery, and analytics. Your use of the Platform may be subject to the terms and privacy policies of those providers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

12. Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

We are not responsible for the content posted by users, the quality of goods or services offered by Creators, the fulfillment of physical-goods tiers, or any disputes between Creators and Followers. We are not a party to any transaction between Creators and Followers — Stripe acts as the payment processor.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless parasocial.website, its owners, operators, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive your right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via email or in-app notification.

16. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@parasocial.website. We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Any active subscriptions will be canceled.
